Climate
Climate Change: 6 key points
1.) The earth’s climate has been warming of late and the burning of fossil fuels has been a contributor to that warming.
2.) The speed of warming has fallen short of the doomsday predictions of many and there is disagreement among scientists as to the magnitude of warming in the decades ahead.
3.) Prudence dictates taking significant action now even if the odds of climate catastrophe are low.
4.) A carbon tax or dividend is the best way to reduce carbon emissions.
5.) A significant part of the over-reliance on fossil fuels today is the over-reaction to the Three Mile Island nuclear failure. Nuclear investment should be part of any solution to the climate problem.
6.) Massive investment in alternative energy makes sense for strategic reasons as well as risk reduction via energy portfolio diversification.
